Procedures for non-domestic rating appeals should be followed to ensure that your appeal complies with the appropriate regulations.
There is a statutory timetable for the receipt and disposal of rating appeals. Appeals arising from the 2005 Revaluation had to be received by the Assessor on or before 30 September 2005. The last date for disposal of these appeals by the Valuation Appeal Committee is 31 December 2008. Appeals not related to the Revaluation will have different disposal dates.
Valuation appeals can be submitted in writing to:
Scottish Borders Assessor
Scott House
Sprouston Road
Newtown St Boswells
MELROSE
TD6 0QD
Alternatively, to lodge an appeal on-line, use the Rateable Values
search on the Home Page to identify the individual property
concerned. (Use the link in the More Information column on the
Street Search Results page). Click on the “GO” button
at the right hand corner of the page to bring up the Online
Valuation Roll Appeals page where the appeal form and further
detailed guidance to help you through the process can be found.
