Voter ID

For the first time in a major election in Scotland, voters will need to show an approved form of identification to cast their vote at a polling place for the UK Parliament General Election.

There are a number of forms of accepted identification.  This includes UK passports and driving licenses, blue badges, national entitlement cards, or bus passes, and identity cards with a PASS hologram, for example Young Scot Cards.

You will be able to use an out of date photo ID, as long as it still looks like you.

The name on your ID must match the name you have registered to vote with.

You can see a full list of accepted forms of ID online gov.uk/how-to-vote/photo-ID-youll-need

If you do not have an accepted form of ID, that web page directs you to apply online for a Voter Authority Certificate which you will be able to use as ID at the polling place.

The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate to be used for the forthcoming General Election is 5pm on the 26th June.
